From organic farm to beauty frontier
The story of Le Prunier begins in Northern California, where the sisters grew up on their family’s fourth-generation organic farm and the largest grower of organic dried plums in the world. “Organic farming was deeply ingrained in us from an early age,” Co-Founder Allison Taylor recalls. This connection to the land, combined with their travels through Asia where dried plum is celebrated as a superfruit, sparked the question—why wasn’t the plum recognized the same way in the U.S.? With more antioxidants than kale, blueberries, and spinach, the dried plum offered untapped potential for skincare benefits.
So they set out to rebrand the plum and bring its remarkable health benefits into a new frontier—skincare.
Plum: Nature’s antioxidant powerhouse
Plums have been a cornerstone of the Taylor family’s farming business for over 40 years. Known for their numerous nutritional benefits when consumed—improving digestion, bone health, heart health, and more—plums also offer significant advantages when applied topically.
The sisters saw discarded antioxidant-rich plum pits as an opportunity to upcycle and embarked on a 2.5-year journey of research and testing. “Our products are based on the Power of Plum®,” Allison explains, “and we take pride in creating upcycled, patented ingredients that are both sustainable and effective.”
They partnered with renowned labs to develop their first product in 2018, the Plum Beauty Oil, which quickly became a hit with beauty insiders. The blend of plum varietals is rich in tocopherols, omega fatty acids, vitamin E, and pro-vitamin A. This powerhouse formula works to refine wrinkles, improve skin elasticity, and promote cell turnover for a smoother, more even complexion. Additionally, the brand’s patented Plum Superfruit Complex® and Midnight Muir® extract are key ingredients that offer game-changing results in their respective formulas.
